Profound and untiring hunt of the visionaries of the locality for an institution of higher education at Agia placed in reality on 22nd August of 1996 in the name of AGIA COLLEGE. The unceasing and worthy effort of the Managing Committee & Governing Body towards a positive direction, the College has a step for all-round progress to cater the spark of higher education to the locality of the vast rural backward area belonging to the inhabited of Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, Other Backward Class, More Other Backward Class and General community.
As a centre of co-education, the College has been offering the Three Year Degree Classes in Arts stream with Honours Course (earlier known as Major course) in Assamese, Education, Economics and Political Science and Regular Course (earlier known as General Course) in Assamese, English, Education, Economics, History and Political Science along with the compulsory course like Environmental Studies. Gradually, College will go for opening the Honours Course in English and History as well as to open new Regular courses based on the demand of the era.
The College is Permanently Affiliated to Gauhati University and Provincialised by Govt of Assam. It is also registered under the Society Act.
Active co-operation of faculty members, Non-teaching staff, Students’ Union, Alumni Association and right time support of the Governing Body has uplifting the College to extend the tidal wave of education among the aspirants of the grater locality of Agia. With the collective efforts from every corner, by following its mission, vision, goals and objectives, the College has been making a noble effort to place the College as the centre of excellence.
