On an auspicious occasion on 22nd day of August 1996, Agia College came into existence as a Degree (Arts) College as a result of maiden effort of the people of greater Agia locality, under the Presidentship of Sri Mahesh Ch. Nath, Secretaryship of Late Swahid Ray and Principalship of Late Dr. Monoj Kumar Chakraborty with five lecturers and twenty-nine students. The dream of a Degree College at Agia under Balijana revenue Circle of Goalpara District (Assam) has fulfilled under the leadership of these venerable persons with the wholehearted help and support of the locality.
With the throb of time, the College celebrating the Silver Jubilee year and emerging as a centre of quality education. As per the need of the locality in general and students in particular, the College has been trying its level best to focus on its mission, vision, goal and objectives to facilitate the students with new avenues to cope with the challenges of the hour.
The first batch of student appeared B.A. final examination in the year 1999, and a marked number of students have completed their undergraduate course in Arts from this College till date. The Alumni of the College rendering their valuable services to the nation in various field and flourish the glory of the institution. College fraternity as a whole committed to place the institution as one of the premier as well as a remarkable higher educational institution of the region.
